Ideally journeys should be allocated to a single pathway … or a maximum of two.
We will be introducing sub-pathways in the future so choosing a main pathway to allow for a sub-pathway to be appended later is advised. Do give us suggestions as we’d like this taxonomy to be guide and listener led.
We will probably limit the main pathways to 16 and add sub-pathways once the volume in a single pathway becomes unwieldy for the listener. Here’s a description of what each pathway should be used for. We are also yet to observe how listeners navigate and find journeys so this whole concept is likely to evolve.
Audiobooks
This pathway is just for audio versions of books that are already available in print or ebook formats. Alternatively, you can use it if you are creating an audiobook first with the aim of publishing it later. We will likely create sub-pathways of fiction, non-fiction and short stories soon and may subsume the existing pathway of poetry if enough published works merits it.
Sleep
This pathway is for music or spoken word specifically aimed to help with sleep. It is not for meditations that might make some one sleepy.
Ambience
This is for musical works only and again might spawn sub-pathways. The odd spoken word by way of introduction or where voice augments the ambience is allowed.
Journalling
This for guidance where the listener is encouraged to make notes as they listen, or after listening. The guidance can be in the audio track itself, in the companion text or with a downloadable workbook.
Meditation
Use this for journeys that either teach the principles and practice of meditation or that will help the listener enter the meditative state. Avoid adding this content to Pathways like Self Care, Journalling and Sleep unless the content contains specific and applicable information.
Self Care
Use this for journeys that help the listener with their well-being. While all meditations could be thought to do this, only use it for content that specifically contains caring information.
Conversations
This pathway is for two-way, or more, dialogues. You can use existing podcasts but aim to group convos on similar theme. See The Healing Journeys as an example which has been augmented with a meditation per conversation - but not added to the Meditations pathways.
Spoken Word
If your voice is your instrument, this pathway is for you. Perhaps your tracks are not quite meditations or short stories but advice, philosophy or guidance of a subtly different nature.
Creative Resources
This pathway is for instructional courses that could help both fellow guides and listeners to be more creative, spontaneous and productive.
Poetry
This pathway is self-evident but note for poems that have been published, you could add them to the Audiobooks pathway. Also live poetry readings could also be a good fit for the Spoken Word pathway.
Songs and Singers
As for poetry, we hope this is self-evident and you can see it as the Sung Word, complementing the Spoken Word pathway.
Nature and Seasons
Use this pathway for journeys that cross weeks, months, seasons and even the years - and that take the listener ‘outdoors’ - this could include walking meditations.
Metaphysics
This pathway was suggested by guides to house explorations outside conventional scientific frameworks. Share your alchemical wisdom and sprinkle your magick here.
Polyvox
This is an experimental pathway for non-English language content. Something we want to grow and encourage. Sensible and strategic use of AI is allowed so long as it’s checked by a human fluent in the target language.
